YEAR OF THE EUCHARIST
& ST. JOSEPH
Archbishop Aymond has designated this year to be an opportunity for all Catholics and all people of good will to grow towards a fuller understanding of the holy Eucharist, especially as it focuses on its place in the Mass.
For Catholics, the Mass is the greatest prayer of the Church, and all are called to Eucharistic Adoration, or worship of him as the Community of Faith, the Church. In the Eucharist, we all encounter the Risen Jesus and are changed and fashioned in His likeness. When we receive Him in holy Communion, He does not become like us, but we become more and more like Him!
In the months to come, materials will be shared with us electronically, in the parish bulletin and through lectures or opportunities to gather for Christian formation. These items will be prepared for us at the direction of the archbishop to assist us in our spiritual growth. I encourage all of us, our parishioners and friends, to avail ourselves to these graced moments and to grow each day closer into the very image of Jesus.
The Universal Church challenges all Catholics to give good example to each other through Eucharistic devotion and to become missionaries within the domestic Church or within our particular families and to lead all to Jesus.
Together we are strong, and the stronger we become, the holier we become in Christ. May the Year of the Eucharist renew and refresh us now and forever. Amen. Blessings in the Eucharist.
YEAR OF ST. JOSEPH
As Archbishop Aymond has declared 2021 the Year of the Eucharist, so has Pope Francis declared 2021 the Year of St. Joseph.
As a boy, I grew in my devotion to Good St. Joseph and then throughout my seminary formation; St. Joseph has played a significant role as my vocation unfolded towards the priesthood. I was taught to place my trust in him and to go to him as to a father. Surely he cared for Jesus and Mary, and he will care for us.
St. Joseph is the patron of the Universal Church, and as such he protects the Church and all her children. His special patronage is exceptionally endearing and loving to all who call upon him. His wisdom will surely guide us, and his holiness will draw us closer to Jesus.
Let us go to Good St. Joseph with our needs, worries, concerns, fears, dreams, hopes and sins. May he accompany us and show us the way to become stronger disciples filled with joy, peace and a greater sense of Christian values.
Very Reverend W.C. Paysse, V.F.
